My girlfriend Sarah likes to say I'm militant about skincare but I'd like to think I just take good care of myself. I follow a few basic tenants:
*wear SPF (at least 15) every day on the face
*use a gentle face cleanser daily (I love cetaphil)
*apply body lotion after a shower/bath
*apply night cream on the face and neck with special attention around the eyes, laugh lines and "elevens" (lines in between eyebrows)*drink lots of water
*DO NOT SMOKE! (if you know me well, you know I am a militant anti-smoker..for those of you who still engage in this nasty habit-if quitting for the health benefits isn't enough to motivate you, then do it for the sake of your vanity -smoking dries out your skin and it will age you prematurely!)
Anyhoo-our little bean loves to spend time watching me get ready in the mornings and she has adopted her own skin care routine. It is beyond adorable. She says "lotion please" and puts Oil of Olay (sensitive skin, spf 15) on in the mornings next to me. After her bath every night (where her delicate face is cleansed with cetaphil) she's started a new ritual applying Aveeno body lotion to her arms, legs,
hands, belly and feet. She especially loves to lather up her feet-she sometimes does 3 applications! Her feet are usually super soft in the mornings. J.D. looks at us and shakes her head...I've been telling him since she was born 'good skincare starts from birth!'
I don't have any photos of her lotioning up, but here are some cute ones from the pool last weekend. She is really mastering the tuck position! She usually does the pike position and I'll try to get a photo of that soon. If she continues at this rate, I foresee diving and gymnastics meets in a few years. She talks about gymnastics class all the time-she knows it is on Saturday's, she has a friend Abby who is there and she can bounce and play in the pit. So cute!
Oh, and yes-she downed the sandwich in about 5min flat.
Happy Wednesday! We have so many fun things to talk about...I'll just dive right in. Our new furniture arrived last week and our house is finally feeling less like an apartment and more like a home. We have a new family room couch, tv stand, tv (J.D. bought that a few months ago),kitchen table and Amelia has a new dog bed (we are doing our best to keep her off the new couch..so far so good). We still have a lot to do (painting, curtains, wall decorations) but it is coming along slowly!
This past weekend we had gymnastics which was fun as usual. Our little bean can now almost walk up into a handstand on her own (by putting her hands on the ground and walking her feet up the wall) and is jumping pretty high off the 3' platform into the pit. Of course, jumping on the trampoline is still her favorite. The coach is definitely impressed with her skills!
We also had a play date at Emma and Sarah's house. Jules LOVES Emma (Emma is 2.5yr, they are friends from school) and talks about her every day (Are you excited for school today? 'Yes, I want to play with Emma.' How was school today? 'I played with Emma!'). Her older sister Sarah (6yr) loves playing with the little ones too.
We went over Saturday afternoon and as a special treat, Amelia was invited over as well. The girls had a fun time dressing up (check out Emma's heels, she had no problem walking in them!) and most of all-they had fun dressing up Amelia. I think Amelia had 6 boa's around her neck at one point-luckily, she was a good sport and enjoyed all the attention.
Sunday afternoon we went to birthday party for our friend's daughter and to say the bean was excited is an understatement. When it was time for her nap, she told us 'No nap, I want to party!' We explained that she could 'party' after she napped...our little stinker is definitely full of personality! She had a great time at the fiesta and quickly realized she enjoyed eating the frosting off of cupcakes and tried to eat as many chips and Doritos as she could. It was a great weekend!
