September 19 - Batman

 Quotes of the week - Julia:

"Mom, can I dye my hair all different colors? I think it would be really fun." Umm...this little chica is only FOUR and she already wants to dye her hair? Lucky for her, a few days after this request a birthday present arrived with neon hair clips (thanks Jill!). She has been wearing 3 of them (pink, purple and blue) in her ponytail. 

"Mom, when I grow up I want to have a little baby girl and I want to name her Savannah." Hmm, I realize she is only 4 and she loves to take care of things but yikes! I told her to enjoy her childhood and she can think about having a baby when she is much much older. She just looked at my quizzically. 

"Mom, you'll be my mommy forever and forever, right?" I said I will always be her mommy and love her more than anything in the world, even when she is a grown up like me. She responded "Yes, when I'm grown up and 10 years old you will be my mommy. Cool!" 

Quotes of the week - Luke:

"Rocket! Rocket! Rocket! One! Two! Three! Boom!" Uncle Bryan sent Luke a rocket launcher a few months ago and it is one of his favorite toys (yes, he still plays with toys too, he isn't just about the cleaning). He can now load the rocket by himself and he launches it in the foyer. He's gotten pretty good and can hit the 2-story ceiling now. Sometimes, the rocket gets stuck on the landing and he'll run upstairs to get it. Occasionally, it lands on the 2nd story shelf near our decorative big window and he will go into the guest room to get the extended cleaning stick to try to get it down (he can't do that himself but he'll call J.D. or I to help him). This morning we were late for school because he wouldn't stop playing with it. Adorable!

"Nananana, Batman!" Luke is the proud owner of Batman pj's and he loves Batman. I think he would wear them every night if we let him. He did actually wear the shirt to school one day last week because I tried to wrestle it off of him for 20min and finally relented.

September 17 - Mr. Clean, Mr. Clean

'What is Luke up to these days?' It's a question I get asked a lot. What is he into? He is into cleaning. No joke. He is obsessed with the vacuum. We used to keep it in our front closet and he would repeatedly get it out of the closet, unwrap the cord, plug it in and yell at J.D. or I to vacuum. When we do vacuum, he holds the cord and cheers. It's pretty funny. What's not funny is how he somehow gets the cable knotted up and that even after we vacuum, he will help put the vacuum away...and then 5min later will pull it out again. So, the vacuum is now locked in the office. When he can't get to the vacuum, he goes to his next favorite cleaning item: the broom. He pulls it out of the pantry and gets to work. He will actually move the little kid table and chairs out of the kitchen and "sweep." He also takes baby wipes and tries to clean the windows and tables. If you are wondering where he gets this from, I think it's me (I clean all the time). 

We also transitioned Luke to a toddler bed this past weekend. The transition has been a little rough. He didn't go to bed until after 10pm last night and then was up from around 1:30am-4am this morning. Needless to say, we are all a little tired this morning!

In other news, Julia is enjoying her new teachers (Ms. Farah and Ms. Ernestine) at school. She is also taking a robotics class (STEM initiative) and her first class was last week. They built motorized motorcycles with legos and she had a great time. Her next class is this Wednesday.
