January 30 - Golden Glitter
"This house has gone to the dogs!" - JD on a weekly basis; usually as he complains about dog hair...light fluffy blonde dog hairs
"It's golden glitter. She's worth it!" - me
I will say having 2 Roombas and a stick vacuum are absolutely worth every penny. Yes, we have lots of golden glitter (and black glitter, just easily hidden) but I wouldn't change a thing! We love these fur babies!!
Apollo is doing great although he needs to lose 10 lbs. I've increased their daily walks so we'll see if that makes a difference. He and Crumble get along pretty well (even eating and drinking out of the same bowls at the same time, on a regular basis) and let's Crumble play with his tail. He is such a sweet dog and my constant shadow.
Bella and Crumble are quickly becoming playmates and wrestled/batted each other today for a solid 2 hours! Crumble will literally dive off the couch onto Bella's tail to play with her, it's pretty funny. Crumble also seems to enjoy water. He now stands outside the shower when I take one and when I'm drying off, he likes to walk around the wet shower. Perhaps we'll have a swimming cat? Time will tell.
In other news, JD is back in San Diego for another 2 weeks. You know what that means? The dogs get to snuggle with me every night, haha!
Have a great week everyone!!

January 28 - Districts

400 relay: Liz, Julia, Mariam, Mia
The varsity district meet was yesterday and Clear Lake HS did great. The boys won 1st place and the girls came in 3rd! Julia had a fantastic meet as well, qualifying for regions in all of her events:
*200 Medley Relay (free leg) - 3rd place!! Podium finish!!
*50 Free - 4th place, best time and AAA USA Time cut. Wowsa!
*100 Free - 5th place, best time and AA USA Time cut. Over a 1 sec drop!
*400 Free Relay (leadoff leg) - 4th place!!

Medley: Mariam, Julia, Amelie, Caroline
She was the 2nd highest point finisher (for girls) on the team. We are so proud of her hard work! Per team tradition, the girls are dying their hair red tomorrow (just the tips..I think) and the boys will be bleaching their hair blonde in preparation for regions. The region meet is prelims/finals meet that is next Friday and Saturday. That is with competitors for the greater Houston area, so the goal for that meet will be making the A (1-8) or B (9-16) final. Regardless, super proud of the whole team! Go Falcons!!

January 18 - End of Year Round Up
Happy Wednesday everyone! I didn't do a great job updating the blog last year so here is a quick 2022 "end up year round up.'
Jillian's friend Ella came over a few times to play over the break and the girls had a lot of fun doing crafts, decorating cookies and baking. And we can't forget, playing with the kitten!
Luke spent a lot of time programming over the break but he also did a decent amount of baking. He makes a fantastic chocolate chip cookie (and they are always HUGE). He also went to a birthday party for a friend from WIRED and had a great time. We also convinced him to get his hair cut!!
Julia spent the break swimming (they had required practice all through the break) and hanging out with friends. The freshman swimmers are all very close and do a lot of stuff together (mall, shopping, movies, etc).
JD has been spending a lot of time off the coast of San Diego lately (he was there the week before Christmas, is out of town now and will be gone half of February) testing the robot off-shore. Being away from family is never fun but being away from family in one of the beautiful places in the US is not too shabby! And as you can see, they are really roughing it on the boat with a private chef.
New Years! For the first time in years, we actually went somewhere for NYE. We were invited to a party at Ava's house (Julia's swim BFF). I went with the kids (we all know JD is a New Years scrooge LOL) and we had a great time eating, watching football and hanging out with new friends.
Cheers to 2023!

January 15 - Welcome Crumble
Big news over here peeps. My neighbor's friend had kittens on 10/29 and invited us over to meet them. There were 4 left looking for homes and Luke fell in love with this little guy. So, we are proud to introduce our new furry family member, Crumble. Crumble has a BIG personality and is very active. He is already eating and drinking out of the dog food bowls (at the same time as the dogs) and Bella is working hard to be his BFF. They aren't snuggling together yet but she does give him 'lick baths' and he seems to enjoy it. He loves watching Jillian take baths and even puts his little paws in water, like a dog. The vet thinks he's going to be a big cat based on the size of his paws. At the end of every school day, Jillian and Sophie run home to play with Crumble. They carry him around like a baby and even push him around, wrapped in a blanket, in a grocery cart. Needless to say both Luke and Jillian are obsessed with this little guy. I am shocked at how friendly he is, he wants to be around people all the time. Welcome Crumble!
