March 5 - Rodeo Time

Houston schools celebrate the first day of the rodeo with 'Go Texan Day' and the kids dress up in their western best. Our little Texan was ready to go with jeans, boots and a hat. Cutest cowgirl west of the Mississippi!

I'm a few weeks behind on the blog so here is a quick update:

enjoying a nice day

Jillian: Jillian started gymnastics last month and she LOVES it! She is in a small class with 3 kids and having a blast. She's incredibly flexible and can do splits already, still working on cartwheels. Most important though, she is having fun! She is also in Girl Scouts (she's a Daisy scout) and we are consistently working every 2 weeks. She is having fun with the girls and this past week, Bella snuggled with the girls while we did part of the meeting. It was adorable and reminded me of Julia's troop 9 years ago, with Amelia being a de facto member of the troop.

Luke: To my shock, Luke has been asking to swim again so he is starting up this week. He is currently taking a class on 'ancient warfare' and they play a boardgame the teacher created. Luke decided he wants to turn the boardgame into a videogame so he has been doing flow charts, reading programming books and bouncing ideas off JD. He is definitely his father's son! He is starting a scuba diving class in April (though school) too which he is excited about.

Julia: Julia had her last short-course club swim meet last weekend. She had not practiced in 3 weeks so it was a mixed bag (one best time, one close to her best, one race not so great) but she spent time with swim friends and had a great weekend. She has decided to leave Aquastar, the club team she's been since age 7 so this was her last meet with the team. She tried out with another team last week and is trying another one next week. Decisions, decisions! She is traveling to Dallas next month for the state Latin competition and is excited about that.

JD: JD's travel continues with recent trips to DC and Denver for work. He had a recent panel with NSF (National Science Foundation) and has also committed to teaching some classes at a local university. He is busy, busy, busy!

Have a great week everyone!

And this right here....absolute perfection. My heart is melting!

I’m so proud of Luke! Love that he’s into programming. Julia big decision can’t wait. Super happy for JD. Sorry I haven’t checked in more often! Always a ton happening over there, really fantastic
